These buses were the first Compressed Natural Gas buses in TTC’s fleet purchased as part of a demonstration project administered by the Ministry of Transportation for Ontario. Premature corrosion of frame members necessitated major remediation work and repainting starting in 1995. High rates of failure of the ZF transmissions in service led to a complete retrofit to an Allison transmission completed in 1998.
